Holme Pierrepont

2009 European Canoe Slalom Championships
Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, Great Britain  28th - 31st May 2009

Holme Pierrepont – White Water Course

The 2009 European Canoe Slalom Championships will be help on the River Trent white water course at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham (multimap)

Description

The white water course was artificially constructed in 1986 and utilises a drop of
4m caused by a flood control barrage on the River Trent.
A high flow rate of 25 cumecs makes the course deep and powerful.
Since playing host to the ICF Senior World Canoe Slalom Championships in 1995,
the course has played host to a number of major international events include a
Wild Water Racing World Cup, European Freestyle Championships and the
2006 ECA Under 23 and Junior European Canoe Slalom Championships.

Travelling to Nottingham

Nottingham East Midlands and Birmingham are the nearest airports to
Holme Pierrepornt and are serviced by a variety of budget airlines from Europe.
Other relevant airports with budget airline services include Coventry, Stanstead,
Luton, Manchester and Liverpool.

Travelling to Nottingham without flying from Europe will involve crossing the channel.
The Channel Tunnel is probably the quickest method, but a ferry can often offer better value
(P &O, Sea France, Norfolk Line)
