White Water Rafting

The English White Water Rafting Committee (EWWRC) represents the interests of rafters in England. The EWWRC concerns itself with providing technical advice to commercial rafting outfitters and carrying out British Canoe Union (BCU) rafting centre assessments. The EWWRC also organise and run British Rafting Team selection events, and overlooking a mentoring system in England for newly qualified raft guides.

The EWWRC has a close relationship with the International Rafting Federation (IRF) and has adopted the IRF world rafting championship competition format in order to stage rafting competitions in the UK. The EWWRC is committed to supporting such events and aims to develop the sport of white water rafting in this country in the coming years.
The EWWRC provide raft guide training courses and assesses individuals that want to gain employment in the rafting industry in England and Wales or wish to work abroad. The IRF, Welsh Canoe Union (WCA), and the BCU all acknowledge the rafting qualifications provided by the EWWRC. Other courses provided by the EWWRC include BCU Aquatic First Aid and Swift Water Rescue Technician 1 courses, which are ordinarily tailored specifically to the needs of raft guides.

The English White Water Rafting Committee is a specialist sub-committee of the BCU in order that rafters will have some autonomy within the Union and be in a position to determine their own interests while not infringing on the interests of other canoeists.
