This coming weekend at will be a very busy one at Nottingham with both the slalom and sprint courses in operation. International selections on both courses over this weekend plus Canoe Sprint National Championship titles to be won, Junior, Senior and for the first time U23.
Due to a problem with clubs incorrectly or missing placing a number of canoe races entries, extra races have been squeezed into the programme for this weekend. List of additional races here.
The Timetable, Start list and Regatta Programme are now posted for the April National Regatta.
The Timetable as posted does show some races which have been moved and/or titles changed but not all, see this announcement for the full list of amendments.
Because of the extended length of the programme some races which were scheduled for Saturday will be run Sunday morning, two 1000m crew boat races, the remainder 200m. Do check the Timetable for your race!
International the 200m race times are getting faster and to keep pace our National Standards for Racing for 200m have been revised.

The Sprint Racing Committee announce the introduction of medals for U23's in 2013
ICF collect Olympic TV award, with a silver for Canoe Slalom and bronze for Canoe Sprint for the games coverage at London 2012
The 2013 National Regatta pre - regatta race entry fees will remain the same as 2012; the addition for late entries at Team Leaders meeting will be an additional £1 per seat for K1 & K2, (no extra for K4's).
Any Club or Individuals considering traveling abroad to compete at a international sprint event (5k or less) needs to contact the Secretary (Email) of the Sprint Racing Committee before entries are placed.
The Sprint Racing Committee are please to announce the final 2012 Trophies to be awarded, for best performance in they class at the National Championships.

How can we encourage more to participate at the National Regattas was the question the Sprint Racing Committee asked at the Annual Consultative meeting. Long distance (5K) races was one suggestion which is being taken forward,
Sadly Paracanoe athlete Jonathon Broome died 1st November. His fellow club members and team mates will greatly miss his quiet steady presence.

Sprint Racing's Annual Consultative Meeting will be on 1st September, for general information see the letter to all clubs. Please note all sprint racing can have a representative at the meeting and vote on the club's behalf in the election for committee members.
The Annual Consultative meeting Agenda will conclude with a discussion asking for your ideas on how to increase the number of paddlers competing at the National Regattas.

If you have ordered Olympic canoe tickets via the BCU there are now ready for collection, this can be done either, from the BCU office or arrange for them to be at the Canoe Sprint Inter-Club Regatta 21-22nd July, or collect from Lee Valley. They can also be posted but this costs cost £10. Please e-mail you preference to firstname.lastname@example.org

A message to all club with lightning paddlers who plan to race at the May National Regatta: There are no longer any Hoddy K2 boats kept at the NWSC, clubs need to bring their own K2 boats.
